La section anglophone
De la grande section au lycée, des cursus spécifiques sont mis en place pour approfondir l’enseignement de la culture et de la langue anglaise.
Destiné aux élèves issus de milieux anglophones ou ayant déjà un bon niveau d’anglais, ces différents programmes sont dispensés par des professeurs natifs et ouvrent la possibilité de passer des examens reconnus à l’international.
The Native English programme
The Native English programme is designed to enable our children to become fully bilingual and multicultural, equipped to thrive in their future academic, personal and professional lives. For five hours a week, with small class sizes, English teaching is focused on the needs and interests of individuals.
The International Cambridge curriculum, adapted by the Massillon team, is centered on literary study, combining intellectual rigour and creative teaching methods to develop pupils’ confidence and skill in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Effective differentiation supports pupils with learning they find difficult and provides challenges in areas in which pupils are more comfortable.
- Primary
The Primary Native programme has been developed for children growing up in a fully bilingual environment, which has allowed them to communicate effectively in both English and French. Starting in either GS or CP, pupils build early literacy skills and develop a love for reading and Anglophone culture. We keep pupils engaged by adapting to the different learning styles and pace of the bilingual student.
Living your English outside the classroom: regular parental support in literacy helps to lay the foundation for pupils to flourish in English.
- Collège
The Collège Native English programme is designed to build on the skills and knowledge our children have already acquired and to promote accuracy, creativity and curiosity. Learning objectives are based on the Cambridge curriculum and the programme is tailored to the interests and abilities of every pupil, with a strong focus on literary study and creative writing. We are committed to fostering an encouraging atmosphere in which our children can become confident, independent learners.
In 6ème and 4ème, the pupils take the Cambridge Checkpoint Exams.
- Lycée
Native English pupils at lycée level benefit from varied classroom activities and materials, pursuing their study of literature, language and Anglophone culture at a high level. The Cambridge IGCSE exams in Seconde and Première provide a focus for developing skills in critical reading, academic and creative writing, and analysis of literary texts. In Première and Terminale, a broad and stimulating programme of Anglophone literature and culture prepares students for further academic study and to excel in the Baccalauréat.
In Seconde, pupils take the IGCSE First Language which validates a C1 (CERCL) level, and in Première they take the IGCSE English Literature Exam.
- Post-Bac
Massillon students today can be found across the world. With the assistance of a dedicated college counsellor, our alumni have gone on to leading Anglophone institutions such as Brown, Cambridge, Concordia, Durham, Edinburgh, King’s College London, Imperial, McGill, MIT, St Martin’s, Trinity College Dublin, UCL, UCLA and Wesleyan.

- MESPA
Massillon English Section Parents’ Association organises cultural events and fund raising activities such as a quiz night, a Christmas concert, a talent show, a sports day, yearbook, and textile sales.
Le programme « Advanced English »
Le programme Advanced English est conçu pour permettre aux enfants de devenir bilingues et multiculturels, et les préparer à s’épanouir dans leur vie future, qu’elle soit universitaire, personnelle ou professionnelle. L’enseignement de l’anglais, dispensé en petits groupes cinq heures par semaine, est axé sur les besoins et les centres d’intérêts des élèves.
Le programme Cambridge, adapté par l’équipe de Massillon, s’organise autour de la langue et de la littérature, et allie rigueur intellectuelle et méthodes d’enseignement inventives afin que les élèves développent leur confiance en eux et leurs compétences en lecture, écriture, compréhension et expression orale. L’enseignement individualisé permet d’aider les élèves à surmonter leurs difficultés et de les stimuler dans leurs domaines de prédilection.
- Collège
En 6ème et en 5ème, les élèves suivent un programme consacré à l’étude de la langue, de la littérature et de la culture anglophone. Cet enseignement est dispensé par un professeur anglophone et un professeur de l’Education Nationale, travaillant en binome. En 4e et en 3e, les heures de cours passent à six heures hebdomadaires. Les élèves préparent les examens de Cambridge (PET, FCE). Ce cursus est enrichi par les sorties, les voyages et un programme d’échanges ainsi que les activités extra-scolaires.
- Lycée
Au lycée, les élèves bénéficient d’une variété d’activités pédagogiques pour poursuivre leur chemin vers le bilinguisme et le biculturalisme en fin de lycée. Leur professeur de langue anglaise est également anglophone. Ils présentent en fin de Première l’examen C1 Cambridge Advanced. En Terminale, ils poursuivent un programme très divers de littérature et culture anglophone qui les prépare pour leurs futures études et un excellent résultat au Baccalauréat.
- Post-Bac
Les anciens élèves de Massillon se trouvent partout dans le monde. Avec l’encadrement d’une conseillère d’orientation dédiée au monde anglophone, nos élèves ont intégré des institutions prestigieuses telles que Brown, Cambridge , Concordia, Durham , Edinburgh, King’s College London, Imperial, McGill, MIT, St Martin’s, Trinity College Dublin, UCL, UCLA et Wesleyan.
Ateliers English club
L’enseignement de la langue et l’acquisition de différentes notions culturelles sont au cœur de ces ateliers. Les petits groupes favorisent la prise de parole et le développement de la confiance en soi.
Au collège, les jeunes peuvent participer à des ateliers d’anglais qui leur permettent d’échanger avec un anglophone.
Destiné aux élèves ayant peu de notions d’anglais, l’atelier English Club est proposé en plus des cours. Chaque atelier peut accueillir une dizaine d’élèves.
Debate Club
At Debate Club, students take part in one debate per week, on subjects which are suggested by coaches or students, as well as shorter warm-up activities, speaking on topics ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous! Debates follow the British Parliamentary Rules of Debating and are chaired by parent volunteers and coaches, who are joined by other teachers, FDA coaches, professional actors or other guest coaches. Past motions include: “This house would go on school-strike for climate action”; “This house believes that handwriting is obsolete”; and “This house believes that compulsory military service at 18 should be reinstated”. Students will learn to prepare both sides of a debate, and to be able to argue, rebut, and give evidence in the cut and thrust of friendly competition.
Why take up debating?
As well as being tremendously fun, debating fosters friendly competition and inspires creativity. Debating teaches students to use language in an effective and persuasive manner, by harnessing the words, phrases and expressions they pick up in the classroom and in everyday life and & applying them to a structured and substantive formal argument. It also requires students to engage with current affairs and maintain a healthy general knowledge of the world around them. Participation in Debate Club is a valuable addition to any university application.
Debating requires heightened linguistic dexterity and self-awareness, and can give students enormous advantages in many areas of life.

Théâtre en anglais
Un atelier de théâtre en anglais est proposé aux anglophones.
Il est dispensé par le Yellow Brick Theater, créé il y a six ans par des parents volontaires et animé depuis quelques années par une parent d’élève et comédienne, Laura Adam. Cet atelier permet aux enfants de découvrir l’art théâtral et, chaque année, les jeunes découvrent de nouvelles expérimentations artistiques.
Il permet de renforcer leurs compétences en anglais et de stimuler leurs capacités créatrices en mobilisant l’expression vocale et corporelle, par le jeu et l’amusement.
